"Queen" Carnival At Motneka

The Motueka R.S.A. Hall, scene of many a community sing and venue for the raising of funds for parcels for the boys overseas during the Second World War, is being demolished to make way for more modern premises in keeping with a club charter. But before the old hall fell, the R.S.A. had a final fling, with an auction and "Queen" carnival. The "Queens" were well-known identities. (John P. Sharp Studio, Motueka).

Reminiscent of the old "Uncle Sam" poster "We Want You" is this pic of "Brick" Simpson and Darcy Evans as they auction some "priceless" object.
