"And This Was Odd"
This evening the Waimea Dramatic Society will conclude it's three-night season of the first production it has ever staged, "And This Was Odd", a comedy by Kenneth Horne. It's the story of a far-flung family which is united at Christmas time. Each member has a problem and the manner in which these are solved by Mrs Simmonds (a member of the family who assumes an ethereal aspect when she takes a certain pill) provides a ton of laughs. The cast is: Mrs Simmoonds (Patricia Painter); Nurse (Pam Price); Frank Kemp (Pat Painter); Sam (Allan Nimmo); Margo (Caroline Stewart); Jane (Lois Worthington); Mrs Julia Kemp (Carol Holland); Morton the Butler (John Stewart); Lady Wilson (Margo Bandy). The play was produced by Arthur Bandy.
Trouble over an engagement with a petulant Margo being castigated by her father Frank Kemp in front of Sam and Julia Kemp.
Nurse returns hoping everyone is having a wonderful time - faces tell the story
Jane in a slightly inebriated condition doesn't realise Mrs Simmonds is watching.
Mrs Simmonds in an ethereal mood
What was just a quick peck turned into a passionate embrace as Nurse gets the big squeeze from Frank Kemp.
