Mick Krammer

While New Zealand was agog with the news of takeover bids for the Wellington newspaper "Dominion", Transport Nelson Holdings Ltd made their own successful takeover bid for the big Motueka freight business of Mr E. F. (Mick) Krammer. Many and wide are the guesses at the price paid to Mick for the business, but we heard from a reliable source that it was between £40,000 and £50,000, We have, however, been unable to confirm this. Mick started the business with one truck in 1953. His present fleet is shown above. Not pictured, however, are two front end loaders, two fork lift loaders, a bale loader and a couple of cattle trailers. Mick is to continue to manage the business for about four years tender the old name of Krammer's Freight. (John R. Sharp).
