National Cherub Titles

The Auckland Cherub fleet, represented by eight boats at the national title contest at Nelson over Easter, practically scooped the pool. Even Stevens, the 1963 title holder, won the championship again after a close contest with Tantalus, another Auckland boat. Three other Auckland boats, Scallywag (3), Mecca (5) and Little Dipper (6) took three of the other major placings. The only Nelson boat to gain a place in the first seven was Commotion (Morris Amos). The weather for the contest was squally for most races and it became necessary for the final two races to be held with the harbour at Port Nelson.
