New Women's Sprint Record

For the second time within three months the 100 yds track at Trafalgar Park has been the setting for a new national record. The first was during the Christmas vacation when Avis McIntosh broke the 80 metres hurdles record and the second was last month when sprints champion Doreen Porter set a new mark of 11.6 sec for the women's 100 yds - and this on a track made heavy by rain. Doreen won the 100 yds event but decided, in view of her time, to forego a start in the 220 yds to make a special attempt on the national record. With Avis McIntosh to push her along she was able to set the new record.
