The Holiday Season
The annual migration of holiday makers to Nelson, the sun spot of New Zealand, has not yet ended, although It has tailed off somewhat. From Christmas Day onwards, Nelson's population soared with an influx of thousands who came to lap up the sunshine. Nor were they disappointed. The weather, while too hot and dry for the farmers' liking, was made to order for the sun worshippers. Every camping ground in Nelson province was filled to overflowing and many found sites on river banks. Motels, hotels and guest houses were absolutely "chocka".
