Swimmers Smash 23 Records

The benefits derived from interval training which most swimming clubs have now adopted, was very apparent at the annual swimming championships of the Nelson and Marlborough centre. In three nights 23 records were smashed, some by small margins and two at least by more than 10 sec. The astonishing performance of the title meetings was that of Lynne Black (Nelson South), who clipped 23.6sec off the 220yds junior girls freestyle. Another outstanding display was that of N. McFedries (Blenheim) who broke the 220 men's backstroke record by 14 sec.
