Plenty of Talent in Nelson
To raise funds for a new free kindergarten at Tahuna, Coles, Nelson Ltd., sponsored a talent quest in the Theatre Royal. And what wonderful shows they were. Each of the three nights contestants played to packed houses and the result was a lot of fun for everyone and £285 towards the new kindy. Coles donated more than £200 worth of prizes, first prize being a stereogram. There were many excellent items, and the magnificent nonsense put across by Johnny Shearer and his team, and compere Alan Paterson, had the audience (including our photographer) in gales of laughter. A very successful venture that could stand repetition.
