Kaiteriteri Beach is known through the length and breadth of New Zealand as the beautiful little bay with the golden sands. But if the Kaiteriteri Domains Board does not do something fairly soon, it is also going to get a reputation as one of the filthiest beaches in New Zealand. Along the seafront where many stop to picnic, there is not one rubbish disposal can in sight. Paper, bottles and other rubbish litter the beach because there is no other place to put it. At left we put some of it on film. While there, a complaint was made by two visitors, one of them an elderly woman, that there were no seats along the foreshore for those who wished to sit in comfort and in the sun. She was right. And while we're still at the complaints stage, could we suggest to the Board that it divert some of the finance going into the camp area towards a retaining wall which would allow the parking space to be increased in car-length. At the moment, in too many places, the tails of cars have to project well into the roadway, With these small improvements Kaiteriteri, we are sure, would increase in beauty and popularity.

Cheers for the City Council which provided the reservoir camp with this fine bathing pool.
