Pensioners' Flats Occupied

The first units of the large block of pensioners' flats erected by the Nelson City Council in Nayland Road were occupied last month. Work is progressing on the remainder and more tenants will be shifting in in the next month or two. Very often the council becomes the target for brick bats (we've even thrown a few ourselves), but it often warrants bouquets and we feel that its efforts to provide pensioners with a good standard of accommodation at a realistic rental, certainly deserve a very big bouquet. We think we will be voicing the opinions of hundreds of pensioners in Nelson when we say to the council, "well done" and "carry on with the good work".
