We have not the figures but we wouldn't be surprised to learn that more people retire in Nelson than anywhere else. Why? The climate, the wealth of beautiful scenery and the peace it affords are probably the three main reasons. But there is another, as these three pictures show - longevity. The three people featured here are all centenarians, ^At left is the. latest to join the club, Mr George Redditt, who is living with his daughter in Nayland Road, Stoke. He has Just turned 100. At top right is Mrs A. L. Andrews, who had her lO1 st birthday recently and at right is the senior member, Miss Kate Green, 120 Tasman Street, who is 102. Mr Redditt is a wonderful man for his age. He still digs the garden and insists on bringing in the wood. And he's a pretty chipper youngster, too. Said he to our photographer. "Tell you what, when you reach 100 I'll take your photo." We hope we make it.
