Quite a lot has been said and printed in recent weeks about an increase in the incidence of Tb reactors in dairy cattle in Karamea and in the Nelson district, To ascertain if the reactors were infected, several cows were killed and post mortem examinations carried out at the Stoke works. Here, Tom McGirr, supervising meat inspector, and Ted Jewell, have a closer look at the innards.

Better facilities for night football training have been a long-felt want in Nelson. Now, with the erection of floodlights at Tahuna, the players are more than adequately catered for. Here we find Stan Friend up the pole putting the finishing touches to a battery of lights.

These cattle, Pedigree Aberdeen Angus heifer calves, were not among those due for the freezing works. We photographed them in Noel Avery's paddocks, Stoke, Just before they left Nelson on the Cap Ortegal for Colorado, via Honolulu. They came to Nelson from South Canterbury for shipment overseas.
