The Roar

One of the advantages of being a Nelsonian, that is if you're fit, reasonably young and keen, is that on our very doorstep we have an abundance of hunting and fishing. For stalkers, the roaring season has just concluded, but while it was on, literally hundreds of stalkers were ranging the hills and mountains. Three members of the Nelson branch of the Deerstalkers' Association, Hugh King-sford, Sid Kees and Merv Miller, went up the Mai-tahi River, South Wastland, on a trophy hunting trip for the "roar" and these pics, taken by Hugh, show a few of the 25–odd deer shot.
