Motueka Meanderings

John R. Sharp
The air around Umukuri was filled with tobacco smoke and probably the lamentations of Mr Rod Fry recently when fire consumed £15,000 worth of grading shed, kiln and tobacco. Fire broke out when an oil burner in the shed blew up and sprayed burning oil all over the place. The pic above shows firemen endeavouring to control the blaze.
