Hope Queen Carnival

The project to build a hall at the Hope Domain was taken a step closer to fruition when nearly £2000 was raised by the Hope Queen Carnival. The three Queen committees, representing Sports, Business, and Farmers, had worked hard for several months raising Is votes. Climax of the effort was a gala in the domain at which Miss Carol Grigg, Sports Queen, was proclaimed the winner with 20,440 votes. With only a few minutes remaining before voting closed, there was little in the contest, but a last-minute donation of 12,000 votes for Carol put the issue beyond doubt.
