Centennial Gates Opened At Takaka

The Centennial Commemoration Gates at Takaka's Recreation Park, built to commemorate the centenary of the creation of Nelson as a city, were opened earlier this month. The event was the cause for general celebrations, which included a procession of floats and other entertainment. The key for opening the gates was carried from Nelson by a relay of members of the Nelson Harrier Club. (All pix by N. M. McLaren)
