Nelson Remembers the 5th of November

×

There was little chance of having a sleep-in on Saturday morning, November 5. Children in Nelson, as in other parts of New Zealand, were up early and the guys they had lavished so much attention on in preceding days were hoisted into dads' wheelbarrows and paraded around the neighbours. For a mere pittance they were able to admire these works of art.
Wakefield celebrated this historic day with a parade of guys and a monster bonfire and fireworks display. Pics on this page show the Wakefield festivities in progress.
