Down to the Sea In ....

The Port of Nelson was a particularly busy one last month. As well as the usual coastal and overseas vessels which visited the port, she had H. M. N. Z. S. Kaniere for the opening of the new wharf, and there was a lot of activity at the slips where small boat owners prepared for the summer.

A launching. The new launch Ratanui, built by Turnow and Wilton for Eric Johnson and Sons, Havelock. The launch in the background towed her to Havelock where she will be used for the Royal Mail run and tourist excursions.
