Intermediate School Gala

Feature attraction at the annual gala of the Nelson Intermediate School was the trolley derby, watched by a big crowd. Only mishap of the day was when Margaret Heywood collided with a car at the intersection of Tipahi and Tukuka Streets and when Sue Milliken also came a cropper in the same race.

Kevin Burgess gets away to a good start and romped home an easy winner while Barry McDonald and Darryl Sturgess plugged along in the rear

When the crowd moved into the road to see what happened to Margaret Heywood, Sue Milliken and some spectators took a spill.
