Big Aircraft at Nelson

Nelson airport was host to the biggest aircraft ever to touch down here when an Rnzaf D.C.6 made a practice flight recently. The aircraft, which carried the official party into Nelson, made several dummy runs over the landing strip before touching down. By using reversible pitch propellers, the plane was able to pull up after using only 70 per cent of the runway. Its take-off was even more spectacular.
