A week before the centenary celebration began, the interior of All Saints' Church more closely resembled a department store. Various machines, manufactured goods, tools and all sorts of commodities were displayed, not for sale, but to advertise "Industrial Sunday" Service. At the service in the evening the Rev. K. Gregory, originator of the idea, delivered his address from the platform of a hydraulic hoist.

Visitor to Port Nelson last month was the Westport harbour tug, James O'Brien, which decided to shelter in Nelson because of bad conditions at Westport. She was on her way home from her annual survey at Wellington.
