A New Angle on Scallops

A few issues ago we covered Nelson's scallop fishing industry. Now we show you just what can be done with the waste products of the scallop, the shell. These are being converted into attractive ornaments that are being sold throughout New Zealand. At present a small industry, it is hoped that in the near future this enterprise of Bill Squires and Doug Boyes will blossom into the big-time, with the finished products being exported overseas.
