The Best Show Ever

Without a doubt the best show ever. This was the opinion of many of the thousands who passed through the showground gates at Richmond to see the Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association's 68th show. Entries again continued to climb, surpassing last year's by nearly 100 and the livestock showed the benefit of the wetter season.

What made the show, however, were the unusual events. Firstly there was the magnificent and breathtaking display by Leone and Tarnyia on the 82ft pole which dominated the show ring. A world-class act we were privileged to see. Among the other main attractions was the entry of three five-horse Clydesdale teams - a sight which could probably not be seen anywhere else in New Zealand today. And finally, the night trotting meeting under floodlights, an innovation which received the tremendous support it warranted.

The A and P Association committee and all who had a hand in organising the show and the night trots, are to be congratulated on their enterprise. Here's hoping that next year's show will be as successful.
