Soccer In The Slush

Soccer fans who had been looking forward with pleasure to the visit of a strong Canterbury side to play Nelson, had their enthusiasm and their boots dampened by a couple of inches of water which covered the playing area at Greenmeadows. The game resolved itself into a battle of kick and chase - fancy footwork didn't pay off. Canterbury won this watery encounter 6-0 when its team adapted itself to the conditions better.
