Drawn Game

Had the Nelson forwards been able to show in the sacond half the fire displayed in the first half, the Canterbury Colts would not have had a look in. As it was, howaver, the Nelson forwards faded badly and allowed the Colts' forwards to get control, with the result that the nimble Nelson backs were cast in a defensive role. Nelson held an 8-nil lead at half-time, but the Colts scored 8 points in the second half to draw.
