Men's Golf Titles

October, 1960, was a big month for Ron Strachan. He won the Nelson Golf Club's title for the second time by beating Neil Fowke 4 and 2 over 36 holes, and then won the spring championship the next weekend, although this time young Graham Lummis took him to the 18th green. Strachan had a handsome lead in the club title but Fowke came back and at one stage reduced it to one hole. Strachan, however, proved too accurate over the closing stages.
