Gala Days
As March ended, many were the sighs of relief that the gala days were finished, at least for the winter months. Galas are excellent means of raising finance, and the gala held at St. Joseph's Convent to raise funds for the new church at Vanguard Street was no exception. Produce, cakes, and all sorts of odds and ends vanished in a jiffy. There was, of course, a fancy dress for the kiddies.
