"Once Aboard the Lugger"

Plenty of mayhem, cannibals and back chat. What more could a boy ask for? Which is why "Once Aboard the Lugger", the operetta produced by the boys of Nelson College was so successful. It was staged to raise funds for the new assembly hall for the girls' college. As well as supplying lots of fun the boys provided some nice singing. The story revolved mainly around the music-loving Captain Macgregor (David Bretton) and his worm-eaten ship, Nutcracker. The ship sinks and the crew are cast up on an island inhabited by cannibals. They are saved from the cookingpot by an odious seaman, aptly named Sludgy (Ross Jamieson).
