No Power Needed

Ripple power control of water heaters in the winter is unlikely to worry the Rev. G. Spargo, his wife and four sons at the Tapawera vicarage. As can be seen here they have a water heating system which relies only on the sun for power. The system acts as a boost to the normal electric hot water service, but the power can be switched off during the day, and still the water is boiling hot. It's all done by means of glass, copper piping and sheeting, and of course, the sun. This pic, showing Mr Spargo with Mark and Timothy, was taken by "Mac" McLaren.
