Mardi Gras

Bigger, brighter and better. That was the summing up after this year's Mardi Gras, Jaycees' holiday project. Apart from a brief shower of rain and a stone through the window of the National Bank of New Zealand, nothing marred this great Nelson festival. The crowd was there in its thousands, many in costumes, and everyone was in holiday mood. As an innovation the main stage was erected at the church steps, giving the crowd more room in which to move.
