Isel Park and Its Irises
Thousands of visitors to Nelson pass through Stoke with barely a thought for the fine stand of trees alongside the recreation ground and little knowing that nestling among them is one of the most beautiful scenic attractions of the province, Isei Park is noted for its magnificent iris gardens, and in spring-time the gardens are a riot of colour. They are set off by the lovely old home of the late Mr J. W. Marsden, which is now the head-quarters of the Nelson Historical Society.
