Sponsored Golf Tourney

Bob Charles, New Zealand's latest and most successful tournament professional, and Ross Murray, a New Zealand representative, had a keen struggle when they met on the Tahuna course in the first of three sponsored matches in the South Island. Charles won 2 up, but recorded a 75 to Murray's scratch 71. Both reported finding summer conditions a little too tough for match play. The pair were followed by a gallery of about 400.
