Talent Quest Show Had Packed Houses

The wealth of amateur talent in New Zealand was graphically illustrated in Nelson during Coles H. M. V. talent quest. On each of the three nights the show was run at a lively pace and the variety of entertainment provided was extremely wide. For the finals, tickets were at a premium. The big prize this year, a refrigerator (or radiogram as I an alternative) was won by a young Stoke acrobatic contortionist, Yvonne Collins, aged 14. She did amazing things, adding to her performance with her grace and poise. She had a real professional touch. She is seen above with Mr Lloyd Cole, her prize, and minor place getters. Brent Brian and Ron Brodie, Christchurch (2nd) and Claude O'Hagan, a Christchurch baritone with a lovely voice. The proceeds from this year's quest, £282, went to the St.John Ambulance Association for a mobile first aid unit.
