"Play Ball"
Softball is still in its infancy here in Nelson, but it is destined to grow into strong manhood very shortly, if what we saw at Neale Park recently is any indication. Here, the Nelson men's and women's teams played their counterparts from Marlborough, and although the women were well-beaten, a strong U.S. influence in the men's team assured the home side of victory. Four of the team are Americans of the Latter Day Church in Nelson. We found the actual play very exciting, but tired quickly of the unnecessary vocal encouragement from ail points of the field to the pitcher.
