The Show
The Nelson A. and P.Association's 67th show set two records - entries and gate receipts, the latter at £1190 being nearly £200 better than last year. A vast crowd visited the Richmond showgrounds on People's Day despite cool, although sunny, and showery weather. The official opening ceremony was performed by the Minister of Health (Mr N. L. Shelton) and the grand parade was led b the band of the R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Woodbourne Innovations at this year's show was a programme of events on the Friday evening, sheep riding for children, shearing competitions and an axemen's carnival.
Above is a view from the grandstand of the grand parade and at left M. A. Wadsworth and his dog Toss (placed 2nd) are competing in the dog trial finals.
