Handicap Race Decided

In contrast to the choppy conditions which caused the first handicap power boat race to be abandoned, Nelson Haven and the bay were reasonably calm when the race was held a fortnight later. Fifty-five craft started in the event, organised by the Monaco Boat Club in conjunction with the Nelson Yacht Club. Philip Vela, in his Johnson 125 h.p. side-winder, won the race from Dennis Goodman (80 h p. Mercury) and Peter Harte.
