Driving Contest Won By Kim Gallagher
Persistent cold rain made conditions unpleasant for competitors and officials in the Nelson-Stoke-Richmond section of the teenage driver of the year contest run by Jaycee. This year Richmond Jaycee, with assistance from other organisations, staged the contest. The top driver, by a wide margin, was Kim Gallagher who won from Chris Walbran and Steven Baigent. The first girl was Susan Taylor.
