Nelson has lost one of its top sportsmen, soccer player Phil Balcombe, who with his wife Pam and sons Gavin and Michael left recently for Gisborne. Phil was Nelson United's top goal scorer and is bound to be a success with his new club, Gisborne City, in the National League. He was employed as a psychiatric nurse at Ngawhatu and is to work in a similar capacity at Cook Hospital.
