From The Past

The old Nelson railway station was a colourful sight on that May day, in 1920, when the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII, who abdicated from the British throne) visited this city. On that sign, under "Stop," can be seen a message which indicates times have not changed a desire for "Peace," (K. Brown photo)

A view of the city from the top of the Rutherford Hotel, which is due to open in about a year's time. From this vantage point can be seen Radio Station 2Zn in the foreground, the City Council, which is about mid-right of the photo, and Church Hill. Other city buildings stretch away in the distance.
