Hutt Retains B'Ball Crown
Hutt Valley were unbeaten in the national women's basketball championship and so retained the title they won last year. Auckland A, which finished third equal with Nelson, went close to beating Hutt but in the final seconds lost 47-49. Final points were - A grade: Hutt Valley 14, Otago 12, Nelson 8, Auckland A 8, Wellington 6, Auckland B 6, Southland 2, Wanganui B 0. Reserve grade: Bay of Plenty 12, Canterbury A 10, Wairarapa 6, South Canterbury 6, Hamilton 6, North Taranaki 2, Canterbury B 2. The tournament was held in the Stoke stadium.
