Prepaping for the Jubilee

Behind the scenes there's a bustle of activity as the Iron Duke Sea Scouts prepare for their Jubilee celebrations in Nelson during Labour Weekend. A jubilee committee chaired by Bill Bush is in charge of the affair and the weekend should be a memorable one. The troop is still keen to contact all old members.

The Royal Navy has donated this plaque made from a sixinch gun plug to the troop to commemorate the jubilee. Who's the figure on the plaque? The Iron Duke of Wellington of course. Bill Bush is proud of the acquistion too

One of the more famous former members of the troop is Rear Admiral J. O'C. Ross (right), shown here visiting the troop. At left is Kevin Beach and centre is Max Delaney, group leader at that stage

The jubilee committee is: Bill Day, Ian Stewart, Merv Stewart, Terry Delaney (secretary), Bill Bush (chairman), Russell Hopkins (treasurer), Dick Tout and Kevin Beach
