A keen, if rather handicapped spectator at the Sed don Shield districts netball tournament was former Nelson player Bunty Mead (nee McLaughlin). Bunty played for Nelson for seven or eight years and was also captain of the side for some of that time. She damaged her Achilles tendon playing in recent rep trials in Wellington where she has lived for the past two years.

Mr Ernie Ashton, a prominent figure in the St John Ambulance movement in Nelson and a recipient of the B.E.M. in the latest Queen's Birthday Honours, has been promoted to Officer in the Priory of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. Quite a mouthful! Congratulations, Ernie!

There were quite a few people to bid farewell at the airport to Sue Kemsley (fifth from left) and Rosanne Furniss (sixth from left) who were on their way to England via Australia and Africa. The two girls worked at Ngawhatu.
