A Few Dents to Mend

A ship can't be pounded on to a reef without suffering some damage and those who saw the Masa Maru's hull after she was slipped at Nelson will agree.

The Japanese vessel's hull was a series of dents, rips and tears. Her keel was also a sorry sight.

The tuna boat was stranded for 26 days on a reef off the Wairarapa coast.
