Four Titles to Nelson
Competitors in the New Zealand Methodist harrier championships had to plough through thick mud for much of the testing course at Lower Moutere. Nelson runners marked the 25th event successfully by winning four of the six titles, Meryl Wastney won the women's race, Richard Coburn, the colts' race, and brother and sister Gavin and Vivienne Rodley won the two midgets' races.
