New Club is Swinging
Formed almost a year ago, the Nelson Country and Western Club is swinging along nicely. The club meets every Sunday night in the Silver Citizens Band room in Parapara Road and anyone who would like to attend is more than welcome. You don't have to be a Johnny Cash to join - just an interest in country and western music will suffice.
The club lost an active, and foundation, member in Gary James recently. He left to join the Navy. Gary ("Johnny Cash") gave some fine renditions of songs made famous by the great Johnny. Providing backing is club president Bill Prentice
Keen members are Velma Growcott and Ron Gardyne
You'll find Beth Carson (treasurer) and Denise Carrick (secretary) there nearly every Sunday night
Shane Prentice must be about the youngest yodeller in the country
As a farewell gift Gary received this powder horn from the club
Broad brimmed hats, leather chaps, boots and head bands are the in gear at the Country and Western Club
