Studio One-Here We Come!

Popular Nelson folk singers Jay 'n' Bee are heading for success. Actually Jay (June Savage) and Bee (Bruce Pownall) are already in demand at cabarets and other social functions, but by the end of August they will be known nation-wide. But for how long they are remembered at that level depends on the votes they receive from their city. For the couple are in the final 20 of the new faces section of Studio One, the programme which launched Nash Chase. They were among 600 entries, were selected in the final 70 and then clinched a place among the top 20 with a fine performance in front of a selection panel in Wellington. Bruce, 27, is a field research technician with the Department of Agriculture and June, 22, is a teacher at Waimea Intermediate. Both are married. This year you don't even have to buy The Listener to vote. So when the time comes how about a bit of support. They will be on T.V. in August.
