Within a few days of the publication of this issue, Mr G. C. Chapman-Cohen will retire from the position of headmaster of Nelson Intermediate School - a position he has held for the last 10 years. He intends to remain in Nelson and will undertake relieving work for the Education Department in the district. Mr Chapman-Cohen is widely known for his interests in music, and particularly children's orchestral work. With his practical encouragement and assistance, Nelson children's orchestra has flourished. Mr Chapman-Cohen has a long string of academic and service qualifications - M.A. (Hons), E.D., Dip. Ed., Adv. Dip. Tchg., A.C.I.S., and F.R.Econ.S.

A group of Nelson girls, and those connected with the ladies' hairdressing trade, were given an insight into fashion trends when Melbourne hair stylist Nicholas Manne held a demonstration day in Nelson. He visited Nelson during a seven-week seminar showing the latest techniques. Here he is putting the finishing touches to the hair of Jenny Gillman, and at Left, Cheryl Screen displays a style for shorter hair.

Scott Field, who will represent Nelson-Pohara at the national P-class yachting championships at Christchurch. At Bottom Left is Alan Bryant, with whom Scott had a great tussle. Coming up to the final race in the series, only one point separated the two.
