Looking as spry as a chicken, Mrs Catherine Holland gave no indication that she was 92 years old when we called to take her picture at the home of her daughter, Mrs W. Newsome, Vanguard Street. She still reads without glasses and knits. She has two sons and a daughter, seven grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

The Nelson B grade table tennis team, comprising Mary Anderson, Audrey Eden and Jennifer Goodall, which won the Canterbury Shield at the national table tennis championships at Tauranga. The team, which won all its games, also won the Barna Cup.

Flanked by his mother and father, Mr and Mrs Bill Gibbons, is Roger Gibbons, who graduated Bachelor of Commerce at Canterbury University earlier this year.

Six young members of Young's Ballroom Academy met with great success among very strong competition at the ballroom dancing spring festival in Christchurch recently. All of them competed in finals. The six, from left, are Karen Lindley and Ross Maddock (third place in old time valetta), Wayne Young and Carolyn Young (a fourth in the ballroom championship), Deborah Rogers and Garry Young (second in ballroom waltz). As well, Carolyn and Garry took first place in the Latin-American class. They danced against 50 other juvenile contestants from many parts of the South Island.
