The Old Brewery Goes

Little time has been wasted in implementing the decision of Dominion Breweries to build a luxury hotel on the site of the Nelson Breweries plant in Church Square. Valuable equipment used in brewing has been lifted through the roofs of the buildings and taken to Greymouth and staff have been busy dismantling and removing vats and piping throughout the brewery. Draught beer to supply hotels in the province now arrives almost daily in huge tankers like the one shown at Left. And, judging by the comments we've heard, Nelson's "own" brew hasn't changed in the slightest. The pic Below Left shows part of the interior of the brewery with some of the vats already removed and, Below, one of the vats being removed through the roof.
