Spring Flower Show

Never before has the drab old Drill Hall presented such a colourful interior as it did last month when the Nelson Horticultural Society held its annual spring show in the hall. Despite the rain, floods and winds experienced in Nelson in recent weeks, some beautiful blooms were shown. Top narcissi award went to Clarry Andrews, Brightwater. His prizewinner, "My Love", is displayed here by show secretary, Ngaire Pierson (Above). Top decorative award went to Mrs D. McIntosh. Her entry is shown at Top Right. John Hunter won the National Daffodil Society's certificate of merit with his six varieties of seedlings (Left).

A new class, for garden clubs, was well-supported. It was won by Waimea South.
